
Comptroller Alkali Reassures Oil & Gas FTZ Stakeholders on his Commitment to Trade Facilitation
In a bid to strengthen collaboration and enhance economic activities, the newly appointed Customs Area Controller of the Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Command, Onne Port Harcourt, Comptroller Aliyu Alkali, has reaffirmed his commitment to facilitating trade and ensuring compliance within the zone.
During a strategic meeting on 13 February 2025 at the Free Zone Authority Mable House Onne, Rivers State with key government agencies, enterprises, shipping companies, and associations operating within the Oil and Gas FTZ, he emphasised the need for strict adherence to trade regulations. He urged all freight forwarders, enterprises, and other stakeholders to perfect their Single Goods Declaration on pre-release approval within fourteen days of transaction.
According to him, “Adhering to this directive will enable the command to maintain accurate records and ensure a seamless business environment.”
He further stated, “The command’s goal is to foster a compliant and business-friendly atmosphere, promoting a stronger working relationship between stakeholders and the Nigeria Customs Service.”
Comptroller Alkali also addressed concerns raised by various stakeholders, including the Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA), the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the Nigeria Police Force, the Eastern Ports Command, the Nigeria Immigration Service Oil and Gas FTZ Command, and Notore Petrochemical Company, among others. He demonstrated a keen interest in resolving challenges that may hinder smooth operations within the zone.
He added, “With this proactive approach, we aim to bolster economic activities in the Oil and Gas FTZ while ensuring compliance and efficient service delivery across all operational facets.”
The General Manager of Operations at the Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA), Adekunle Ajayi, who represented the Managing Director of OGFZA, welcomed Comptroller Alkali to the zone and assured him of their full cooperation in achieving the set objectives.
