
Comptroller Edelduok Seeks Stronger Ties with Maritime Police to Boost Security
The Customs Area Controller in charge of the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command, Comptroller Joy Edelduok, has called for stronger ties between government security agencies, emphasising the importance of inter-agency collaboration.
She made the call on 6 March 2025 in Lagos during a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Maritime, Garba Yusuf, at the Kam Salem Building.
According to a statement released immediately after the visit by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Victor Ogabor, on Thursday, 6 March 2025, the visit aimed to strengthen the partnership between the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Maritime Police.
“Discussions focused on enhancing security, safety, and operational efficiency in the maritime sector,” the statement read.
The statement further noted that both officials underscored the need for greater collaboration and intelligence sharing to combat smuggling and other illicit activities threatening national economic and security interests.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from both agencies to foster cooperation and mutual support, paving the way for a stronger partnership between the Nigeria Customs Service KLT Command and the Maritime Police.
