
Courtesy Visit By Governor Of Taraba State To The Chief Of The Naval Staff
On Tuesday, 27 January 2026, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Dr Agbu Kefas, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas (Admiralty Medal), at the Naval Headquarters, Abuja.
During the visit, Governor Kefas congratulated the CNS on his appointment and commended the Nigerian Navy for its critical contributions to the nation’s security architecture. While acknowledging the efforts of Nigerian Navy personnel under Operation WHIRL STROKE, the Governor advocated for the expansion of naval operations in Taraba State, particularly in the riverine areas.
He further stressed the need to deepen strategic collaboration through increased naval presence in the state to enhance public confidence in security and encourage greater participation of Taraba indigenes in enlisting into the Nigerian Navy.
In his response, the Chief of the Naval Staff commiserated with the Governor over the huge security challenges confronting the State and assured him of the Nigerian Navy’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He underscored the importance of intelligence sharing and inter-agency cooperation in addressing security concerns.
The CNS also commended Governor Kefas for adopting non-kinetic and education-driven approaches to tackling insecurity while reaffirming the Navy’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at improving security nationwide, thereby enabling citizens to carry out their lawful activities without fear.
The visit was attended by Principal Staff Officers of Naval Headquarters, Distinguished Senators of the National Assembly, Honourable Members of the Federal House of Representatives from Taraba State and members of the Taraba State Executive Council.
