At least 215,277 Nigerians have received their first dose of the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID 19 vaccines, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) announced on Tuesday.
The agency noted that 7 states are yet to begin the vaccination exercise as opposed to 7 on Monday, the states are Abia, Kebbi, Kogi, Niger, Oyo, Tarana, and Zamfara.
Recall that on March 2, Nigeria received 3.94 million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid 19 vaccines through the Vaccines Global Assess Facility, COVAX.
Faisal Shuaib, the Executive Director of NPHCDA, stated that no one has reported any complications or reactions to the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine so far.
Data collated from the Electronic Management of Immunisation Data System Dashboard indicates that Lagos state, the epicenter of the Coronavirus, has so far vaccinated 58,461 persons.
Numbers of persons vaccinated from other states are: Bauchi 23,827, Jigawa 20,800, Ogun 19,257, Kaduna 14,527, and Kwara 12,016, Kwara 10,002, FCT 8,615, Adamawa 7,407, Nasarawa 6,801, Yobe 5,509.
Data from other states according to NPHCDA includes Ebonyi 77, Sokoto 98, Anambra 132, Benue 146, Gombe 203, Bayelsa 552, Borno 653, Plateau 883, and Delta 915.
Meanwhile, Nigeria has witnessed a marginal decline in the number of new coronavirus infections. As of today, the country has recorded a total of 162,076 coronavirus infections with 2,031 deaths.
