Customs Engages Stakeholders to Strengthen Trade Facilitation
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Port & Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Area Command, has organised a refresher training programme for stakeholders to address key challenges hindering seamless trade facilitation.
Held on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, the session brought together licensed customs agents, terminal operators, and customs officers to deliberate on ongoing issues relating to trade documentation processes—particularly the Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR), Form M, and the newly introduced B’Odogwu platform.
Declaring the event open, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Tenny Daniyan, underscored the importance of ongoing dialogue with stakeholders to resolve operational hurdles and foster trust across the trade chain.
“As we’ve always promised, we will carry everyone along whenever issues arise.”
“We’ve observed that despite inputting PAAR and Form M, challenges still persist. That’s why we’ve brought our officers here today—to clarify and answer your questions,” he added.
Describing trade facilitation as a vital driver of economic growth, Daniyan commended stakeholders for their continued cooperation, particularly during uncertain periods.
“When we had no clear roadmap, you stood by us. Despite the setbacks, you placed your trust in us—for that, I say thank you.”
Participants at the event lauded the initiative, describing it as both timely and impactful.
Florence Adewale of Libra Circle Limited expressed satisfaction with the clarity gained during the session.
“I never realised it could be this straightforward. They’ve broken it down to its simplest form. So far, Customs has been improving,” she remarked.
The training was led by Assistant Comptroller Oladepo Abass and his team, who provided detailed explanations and fielded questions to deepen understanding of trade procedures and encourage compliance.
