Customs Enugu/Anambra/Ebonyi Customs Command Records Impressive Results, Sets Record with N50.8B Revenue in 2024
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Enugu/Anambra/Ebonyi Command’s strategic approach to revenue collection and stakeholder engagement has yielded results. In 2024, the command recorded an unprecedented revenue of N50,847,625,597.08, representing a 50% increase from the N27.9 billion collected in 2023. This marks the highest revenue collection in the Command’s history.
According to the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Comfort Ukpanah, through a press statement issued on Friday, 10 January 2025, the achievement was made possible through strategic alignment with the Comptroller General’s policy thrust of Collaboration, Consolidation and Innovation.
She stated the command worked assiduously to create an all-inclusive methodology in its modus operandi with stakeholders. “Consequently, the command leveraged on that to galvanise and earn the trust of our esteemed stakeholders in adhering very strictly to the extant guidelines in terms of trade.”
Additionally, the Command developed a compliance monitoring template for stakeholders and officers to prevent revenue leakages. Special attention was given to excise factories and parcel post operations. Through intelligence sharing and collaboration, the Command identified and brought under control, excise factories that had previously evaded Customs oversight.
Comptroller Ukpanah highlighted the Command’s commitment to vigilance: “We ensured round-the-clock surveillance on activities of such factories, in addition to the existing ones, to ensure that appropriate excise duties were collected.”
Looking ahead to 2025, the CAC assured Nigerians of the Command’s readiness to meet and surpass its expected revenue targets. “The command will surely take steps to reposition itself and create fresh operational strategies to ensure that we meet and even surpass the revenue target that will be given to the Command in this new year.”
Comptroller Ukpanah praised the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, for his leadership and support, which she described as key to the Command’s success.
She appreciated the support of compliant traders and advised non-compliant operators to adhere to trade guidelines or face the full wrath of the law.
