Customs MMAC Expresses Confidence in Achieving 2025 Revenue Target, Surpasses 2024 Goals

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Murtala Muhammed Area Command (MMAC), says it is confident in achieving its N358 billion revenue target for 2025, building on a year of exceptional performance.

The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Michael Awe, expressed this confidence during a press briefing held on Tuesday, 28 January 2025, at the command headquarters.

He disclosed that the command achieved a record-breaking revenue of N180,750,786,844.36, surpassing the projected N179,739,241,526. “This is a significant leap from N90,426,185,44.01 generated in 2023, reflecting an increase of N90,324,601,397.35.”

“This accomplishment reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence and dedication to enforcing government fiscal policies”, Comptroller Awe stated.

Beyond revenue generation, the command’s relentless efforts to safeguard the nation from illicit trade resulted in significant seizures of 21 packages of 225mg Tramadol Hydrochloride, 50 rounds of 9mm live ammunition, 54 packages of military hardware, and various prohibited wildlife items such as dried sea cucumber, dried donkey male genitals, turtles, and pangolin skins.

Others are 55 pieces of Jojef Tomahawk semi-automatic riffles, 50 packages of dried Canadian cannabis, 255 pieces of drones, 250 pieces of turtles and mineral stones. All with a duty paid value of N10,511,888,799.

“These seizures underscore the command’s resolve to enforce customs laws and protect citizens from the dangers of smuggling”, the CAC stated.

Meanwhile, the command had earlier decorated newly promoted officers on Monday, 27 January 2025, where the CAC charged the officers to contribute their quota to achieve the mandates of the Nigeria Customs Service.
