Customs Sensitises Officers, Stakeholders on Groupage Consignment
The Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command has sensitised officers and stakeholders within the Groupage Terminals on the need to understand groupage consignment.
The interactive session, which aimed at addressing documentation and revenue leakages, was held at the command on Friday, 12 July, 2024.
Declaring the session open, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) Comptroller Babatunde Olomu emphasised the importance of the training in facilitating legitimate trade.
In his words, “As we all know, it is being said that probably, there could be revenue leakages through some of our Groupage Terminals and it has often been seen that at times, legitimate trade may not be facilitated through some of these groupages and this is why we feel it’s very important we come together and collaborate.”
He explained that professionalism has become imperative to guide the operations of the service.
“Let us bring in some professional touch into what we are doing to ensure that professionalism remains the central fulcrum that will guide our operations,” he emphasised.
The CAC, therefore, charged participants to take the training seriously both from the side of stakeholders and officers.
