DC Afeni Reaffirms Commitment to Reward Outstanding Performance, As NCBN Receives Commendation Award for Impactful Support
The Acting Customs Area Controller in charge of Ogun I Area Command, Deputy Comptroller of Customs (DC) Oladapo Afeni, has reaffirmed his commitment to recognising and rewarding officers who demonstrate exemplary performance in the discharge of their duties.
He gave the assurance on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, during the Command’s gala and award night, which attracted officers from the Benin Republic Customs Administration, sister security agencies, and traditional rulers from communities along the Idiroko border axis.
Speaking at the event, the Acting Area Controller said the ceremony was organised to honour officers who have distinguished themselves through professionalism, diligence, and adherence to the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service.
“Today, we are here to honour those who have done well in their assigned duties, and it is a means to tell others that hard work is always recognised within the Command,” he said.
Afeni noted that the initiative would promote healthy competition among officers and serve as motivation for improved service delivery. He also expressed confidence in the Command’s preparedness to meet future operational expectations.
“The necessary operational frameworks are already in place to position Ogun I Area Command as a formidable enforcement and revenue-generating zone in the coming year,” he added.
During the ceremony, awards were presented to outstanding officers, as well as sister security agencies and partner organisations, including the Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network NCBN, which received a commendation award for its impactful support throughout 2025.
