Demi Lovato Apologizes for Zika Virus Joke After Backlash
Yesterday, Demi Lovato suffered a major backlash on Twitter for joking about Zika virus and now the singer is apologetic for her behaviour.
It all started when Demi shared a Snapchat story of her mother, who appeared to be drunk, saying ‘Everybody down in Rio (is) gonna get the Zika virus!’ The Confident singer could be heard laughing in the background and she even added three laughing emojis to clip uploaded to her snapchat.

After the video hit the net, fans were outraged by the insensitive joke, sparking a conversation on why Lovato would ever share the Snap, let alone make light of Zika virus. Soon enough #DemiLovatoIsOverParty began to trend on Twitter.
People make jokes with a serious problem like diseases do not deserve an ounce of respect. #DemiLovatoIsOverParty

Demi, who has been open about her past struggles with depression, bipolar disease and eating disorders, took to her Twitter hours later to apologize for the incident. Her mum also offered her sincerest apologies.
In no way did I mean to offend anyone last night. I was laughing at how southern my mom sounded, not the issue at hand. Deepest apologies.

But Demi Lovato’s apology didn’t hold much water because she tweeted this after:
If you watch everything I do, you’re still a fan.. I ain’t goin nowhere bitches 👋🏼

It’s an awesome feeling when you’re so content with life and yourself that hate doesn’t effect you.. Feelin’ good y’all 👍🏼💗☺️

@ddlovato It’s not about hate. You laughed at a serious problem we’re facing in Brasil and posted it on your Snapchat. Deal with it

It was only a few months ago that Demi quit social media after she was mercilessly dragged for shading Mariah Carey. Now she is back to stirring more controversy.
