
Education, A Bedrock To Nation Building, Says Commander 14 Brigade
The Commander 14 Brigade Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 3 Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA (OPUK), Brigadier General Hassan Bello says for a nation to achieve meaningful development, education must be given utmost priority. He stated this on Friday, 21 February 2025 when the Director/Principal Federal Government College (FGC) Ohafia and members of his academic staff paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Brigade (Bde) Headquarters.
Brig Gen Bello welcomed the Principal and members of his entourage to the Bde stating that the collaboration between the two federal establishments is of utmost importance. He said “just like the Barracks, FGC Ohafia encompasses students from various geopolitical zones of the country”. He therefore noted that the Bde will continue to support the school in the aspect of security and other areas of interest for the development of students, stating that”with security, students at all level will have a better opportunity to study and achieve academic excellence”.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director/Principal of Federal Government College Ohafia, Mr Ezeorba Micheal thanked the Commander for granting them audience, adding that he has been looking forward to this interface as the school cannot deliver on its mandate without security. He disclosed that secondary education is crucial for personal and societal development as it prepares students for higher education and workforce, thereby fostering critical thinking and promoting social and economic advancement.
Mr Ezeorba however added that the visit aims to sustain and strengthen the existing relationship between the two federal establishments in Ohafia, and to request the Bde to support the school whenever necessary. He also appealed to the Bde to participate in all the school activities as it will further showcase the synergy between both parties.
High point of the event was the signing of visitors book, presentation of souvenirs and group photograph.
