Educational Global Best Practice System: NACOE Educates Staff and Students

In a bid to uphold global educational standards and best practices, the Nigerian Army College of Education (NACOE), Ilorin, conducted its Fourth Quarter Seminar for staff and students of the College with the theme “Igniting Innovation: Entrepreneurship, Research Paper and Journal Writing.” The event took place on Thursday, 6 November 2025, at the Major General SA Adebayo (Rtd) Multi-Purpose Hall, Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin, Kwara State.

The seminar was organized to equip NACOE’s staff and students with requisite knowledge on research, entrepreneurship, and academic writing, as well as to foster collaboration with other institutions.

Guest lecturers from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) and Kwara State University (KWASU) delivered insightful presentations on key topics. Professor Mubarak Sanni from KWASU spoke on “The Value of Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century: Challenges and Way Forward,” while Prof. Raji Shittu from UNILORIN presented a paper on “Academic Research and Global Opportunities.” Representatives from Premium Trust Bank were also in attendance to shed more light on entrepreneurship, adding glamour and practical relevance to the seminar.

Delivering the opening remarks, the Director, Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Ahmad Mohammed, welcomed participants and highlighted the significance of the seminar in promoting entrepreneurial thinking, strengthening research capacity among staff and students, and equipping them with the skills and motivation to establish start-ups and small businesses.

He urged everyone to participate actively, ask questions, and apply the insights gained to enhance personal development, institutional growth, and the broader progress of the Nigerian Army, Kwara State, and the nation at large.

Similarly, the Registrar of NACOE, Lieutenant Colonel Adedeji Olusegun Akindele, encouraged participants to engage fully with the lectures and benefit maximally from the presentations. He expressed optimism that the seminar would equip staff and students with the necessary rudiments and skills in entrepreneurship, research and academic journal writing.

In his closing remarks, the Provost of the Nigerian Army College of Education, Brigadier General Emmanuel Chidi Echebiwe, commended the guest lecturers for their well-delivered presentations. He enjoined academic staff and students to return to their respective departments and apply the knowledge gained. The Provost appreciated all participants for their presence and wished them safe journeys back to their destinations.

Dignitaries present at the event included the Dean, Faculty of Arts, UNILORIN, Professor Ibrahim Jawondo; Professor Emmanuel Oladipo; NACOE Deputy Provost (Academic), Dr. Medinat O. Adedeji; Director of Works, NACOE, Lieutenant Colonel KM Abdul; senior officers, members of academia, and other distinguished guests.
