EFCC Boss, Magu, Receives Operations Management Man Of The Year Award
In recognition of his track record in the fight against corruption, Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, was on Thursday, February 8, 2018 honoured with another award of excellence by Chartered Institute of Operations Management of Nigeria, CIOMN.
He was honoured as “Operations Management Man of the Year” award, meritorious service award for anti-corruption fight and transparency.
Martin Nwannunu, Registrar, CIOMN, who presented the award at the EFCC’s Head-Office, Wuse 2, Abuja described Magu as a “fearless fighter” whose record of achievements in corruption fight “is unparalleled”.
Nwannunu, while showering encomiums on Magu said, “Under your leadership, corruption has been curtailed and demystified making it practically difficult for anybody in Nigeria to get involved in corrupt practices without having most probably a second thought”.
“The fear of EFCC is the beginning of wisdom in Nigeria today, as it doesn’t matter who you are, the anti-graft agency will go after you and get you once you have your hands soiled in corruption”, he said.
According to him, the anti-corruption fight of the present administration had earned the country great respect and honour before the international community, adding that the man steering the ship of the graft fight also deserved to be honoured for doing a great, but delicate job.
He added that the Institute would confer Magu with the “Fellow of the Institute” award at a later date.
Giving a brief background of CIOMN, Nwannunu said “the history of the Institute dates back to 2008. The formation of the Institute was informed by the strategic role operations section plays in every organisation. Operation section in every industry is the engine room”, he said.
In his remark, Magu, who was visibly ecstatic, thanked members of the CIOMN for finding him worthy to be honoured saying, “I am really happy for this award. I am grateful for recognizing me.”
“It’s good to be recognised for whatever one is doing as it serves as an encouragement not only for me but for people who work with me”, he said.
The EFCC chair urged members of the Institute and indeed all Nigerians to abhor corruption saying, “corruption retards the progress of a nation”.
He added that all support is needed to tame the monster for the country to move forward.
The anti-graft czar also admonished members of the Institute to do well by collecting their PVC as it is a way of fighting corruption.
“It will soon be time for election when people will exercise their right. Therefore, I appeal to you all and indeed Nigerians generally, to come out and make sure that the corrupt elements do not get to power in order to free the nation from the shackles of corruption.
He warned people from taking money out of the shores of Nigeria as the foreigners would find a way of holding on to the money especially when the source cannot be account for.
Other members of the Institute on the visit were Engineer Vincent Ekwueye, Engr. Abdulfatai Ahmed, Mrs. Rity N. Brenda and Mr. Okoro George.
