EFCC Takes Over Illegal Petroleum Dealers Arrested By Nigerian Army

The Uyo Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday April 10, 2018, took over three suspects and a Dangote truck conveying illegaly refined petroleum product suspected to be crude oil.

They were arrested by men of the 2nd Brigade, Nigerian Army, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.

The suspects who were arrested at Abak Road checkpoint include Ibrahim Usman, Suleiman Mohammed and Suleiman Adams. They were arrested during a routine check, where it was discovered that rather than convey cement, the arrested Dangote Truck with Kano State registration number, KNC 145 XA, was conveying illegally refined petroleum product concealed in huge cellophane bags numbering about 190, one hundred and ninety. 

At the time of their arrest, the trio could not produce any licence that authorised them to deal in petroleum product, neither was there a waybill to cover the conveyance of the said product. 

The Commission has commenced further investigation into the matter and they would be arraigned as soon as investigation is concluded.
