Effective Logistics and Transportation Support Enhances Operational Efficiency – Maj Gen Shagaya
The Commander, Corps of Supply and Transport (CCST), Major General Nansak Danjuma Shagaya, has re-emphasised the importance of effective logistics and transportation in enhancing operational efficiency in the Nigerian Army (NA). He stated this on 11 March 2026, during a familiarisation visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, NA, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, at the Headquarters 6 Division, Port Harcourt Barracks.
Speaking further, the CCST reiterated that upon assumption of command, he outlined his mission statement aimed at guiding personnel of the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (NACST) towards achieving the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu. He commended the GOC for his continuous guidance and support to the 76 Supply and Transport Brigade, particularly in facilitating the organisation of a driving course for personnel within the Division. He noted that the training would go a long way in addressing the dearth of drivers within the Division’s area of responsibility.
Major General Shagaya maintained that the visit afforded him the opportunity to assess the operational environment, identify challenges, and offer solutions where necessary. He added that the visit would also enable him to evaluate the level of preparedness ahead of the forthcoming Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2026 in Port Harcourt.
While welcoming the CCST, the GOC 6 Division, Major General Emekah, called on commanders at all levels to generate innovative ideas that will benefit troops and the barracks community. He assured the CCST of his continuous support, particularly to the 76 Supply and Transport Brigade, in implementing initiatives that would improve the welfare and efficiency of troops within the Division.
The GOC congratulated Major General Shagaya on his well-deserved appointment and wished him a successful tenure in office.
