
Eid-El-Fitr Luncheon: COAS Felicitates With Frontline Troops In Katsina
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has celebrated Eid-el-fitr with troops of 8 Division and Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) in a luncheon which was held at Forward Operating Base FASKARI, Katsina State on 31 March 2025.
In his goodwill message, the Chief of Army Staff who was also the Special Guest of Honour, was ably represented by the Commander Infantry Corps, Major General Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim, said this year’s Ramadan served as a valuable reminder of the importance of unity, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence as a nation. The COAS lauded the troops for their commitment and dedication to duty during the holy month of Ramadan.
The COAS also stated that the celebration of Ramadan provides an opportunity to show gratitude to God for the peace and stability being maintained across the country through troops’ sacrifices in different theatre of operations despite facing difficulties and dangers in performing their duties, stressing that he remains committed to strengthening the operational capacity, welfare and combat readiness of troops in contribution to an effective national security.
Earlier in his welcome address, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander Sector 2 OPFY, Major General Ibikunle Ajose remarked that the celebration of Ramadan provides an opportunity for personnel to come together as one family, united by shared commitment to peace, security, and harmony in the nation.
Major General Ajose encouraged that lessons learnt during the sacred month of Ramadan which include patience, sacrifice, love for humanity, and absolute submission to the will of the Almighty must continue to guide the daily lives and responsibilities of troops as defenders of peace and stability in the nation.
The GOC commended officers, soldiers and personnel of 8 Division and OPFY and all security agencies within the Joint Operations Area for their unwavering dedication to duty, acknowledging the families of troops who have continued to provide quality support and encouragement to their loved ones in service.
He reiterated that 8 Division and OPFY remains committed to ensuring that every citizen, regardless of religion or ethnicity, enjoys the right to live in peace and harmony.
The luncheon witnessed a beautiful entertainment and comedy, serving of foods to troops by the COAS and other senior officers, presentation of souvenir, and Group photograph.
