Ekiti Agog as Adetuberu Empowers Widows
In what could be described as carnival, Ekiti widows on friday trooped to Igede and converged on the APC secretariat for the first phase of Adetuberu Widows Empowerment Scheme aimed at cushion the effect of economic downturn and impove the lives of widows in society.
Delivering his welcome address, the APC Ekiti Central Senatorial District Chairman, George Ojo, eulogised the initiator of the program Adedeji Adetuberu, describing the program as a timely and remarkable intervention as he enjoined other party faithful to emulate him.
While addressing the gathering, Deputy Chairman of APC in Ekiti, Kemi Olaleye, said Adetuberu knows the significance of women in society, that women empowerment directly amounts to community development. She urged the beneficiaries to make good use of what was allocated to them.
In his own remarks, the party spokesperson, Taiwo Olatunbosun, described Adetuberu as a man with good heart, saying Adetuberu has not benefited anything from the party yet, promoting it through such a befitting initiative.
According to the founder of Adetuberu Widows Empowerment Scheme, Adedeji Adetuberu, the scheme is designed to help alliviate the suffering of widows in society who have become vulnerable due to their conditions and present situation of the economy.
“These people have worked diligently to uphold their families and even the country because they have helped train a lot of people in our society but the system is so bad that we don’t really have a way of appreciating them.
In our own little way of appreciating and alliviating the sufferings of the vulnerable ones, we have designed this scheme. This program will subsequently extend to others during the second phase” He said.
The event witnessed a dazzling array of party leaders and loyalists from across the state.
