
Emir of Ilorin Receives New Acting Area Controller Kwara Area Command
The Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on Tuesday, 23 December 2025, received the newly appointed Acting Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kwara Area Command, Deputy Comptroller of Customs (DC) Najeem Ogundeyi, during a courtesy visit to the Emir’s Palace in Ilorin.
The visit formed part of the Acting Area Controller’s familiarisation tour following his recent assumption of duty. He was accompanied by senior officers of the Command to pay homage to the monarch and members of the Ilorin Emirate Traditional Council.
In his remarks, DC Ogundeyi explained that the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing cordial relationship between the Nigeria Customs Service and the traditional institution. He described the Emir as a symbol of unity and stability. He also emphasised the importance of royal guidance in ensuring effective Customs operations within the state.
“This visit has allowed me to formally introduce myself and my management team, while soliciting the cooperation and support of Your Royal Highness and other traditional rulers in promoting peace, security and seamless Customs activities in Kwara State,” DC Ogundeyi said.
In his response, the Emir commended the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, for deploying experienced and professional officers to Commands across the country. He noted that such strategic postings enhance border security and contribute to national economic development.
“I also assure the Nigeria Customs Service, Kwara Area Command, of the palace’s continued support and cooperation in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities,” His Royal Highness added.
The visit concluded with prayers from the Emir and a group photograph, symbolising the sustained collaboration between the Nigeria Customs Service and the traditional institution.
