Enugu Rangers FC on Sunday broke a 32-year-jinx to be crowned champions of the 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi had declared a carnival while throwing the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Open for the historic game, and the champions-elect completed the fairytale with another flawless display of attacking football that’s characterized their season under coach Imama Amapakabo.

Chisom Egbuchulam will be the toast of the Coal City fans for years to come after he grabbed a hat-trick on the memorable day, with dynamic winger Osas Okoro completing the scoring to restore Nigeria’s premier club to the summit of the local scene.

Victory leaves rangers with an unassailable 63 points from 38 games to leave them five points above their closest rivals Rivers United who only managed a goalless draw against Akwa United in a south-south derby.

Rangers now join Enyimba FC as the most successful sides in the Nigerian league with seven titles.

Meanwhile, as fans take to the streets of Enugu in celebration, Nigerians on Twitter have sent congratulatory messages to the side…
