Exercise Mugun Bugu IV Comes To A Successful End In Faskari Katsina State

The year 2025 Exercise MUGUN BUGU IV was successfully brought to a close at the Grand Stand in Angwan Machika Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State with Deliberate Attack and Fire Power Demonstration.

In his welcome address the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu who was ably represented by the Commander Training and Doctrine Command, Major General Peter Malla, stated that the Exercise which brought together Combat Arms, Combat Support Arms and Combat Service Support Arms from across Nigerian Army Training Schools was a demonstration of the Nigerian Army’s operational readiness, strategic cohesion and unwavering commitment to the defence of our nation.

He stated that the Fire Power Demonstration were a culmination of weeks of rigorous planning, coordination, and execution designed to simulate real-world counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations. He commended the participants for their professinalism, discipline and tactical acumen, which has demonstrated the Nigerian Army capabilities and innovation in display.

In his remarks, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, his Excellency Umar Dikko Radda, expressed his satisfaction and appreciation to the Army for dedicating their time and resources to combat banditry and other criminal activities during the period of the Exercise. He specifically thanked the Chief of Army Staff for his commitment despite the short time in office so far for ensuring that resources were made available for the conduct of the exercise in Faskari Local Government which has been under threat from banditry and other criminal activities. He expressed his hopes that with what the Army has done to showcase their capabilities, it will go a long way to ensuring the aim of the exercise is achieved.

While presenting his vote of thanks, the Commander Nigerian Army Training Centre, Major General Abubakar Garba Haruna, thanked God Almighty for making the Exercise a success with the decisive blow dealt the bandits by the troops of 17 Brigade, during the period of the Exercise. He stated that, Exercise MUGUN BUGU which means “deadly strike”, is a yearly field training exercise and was deliberately done in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State to conduct deliberate operations against bandits. He expressed his appreciation to the Governor for his untiring support throughout the Exercise. He equally thanked the Chief of Army Staff who ensured all resources were made available for the Exercise.

Highlights of the activities included the presentation of sourvenirs to the Special Guest of Honour by the Chief of Army Staff and other dignitaries from the Combat Arms, Combat Support Arms and Combat Support Services to the cheering of everyone. Also there was an After Action Review of the whole exercise, which was meant to examine the Exercise and draw out salient lessons. The day ended with a camp fire to appreciate everyone and unwind after a rigorous three weeks exercise.The events featured cultural dances by cultural troupes.The activities ended with a special presentation of sourvenirs to the Exercise Director from the District Head of Faskari to present to the Chief of Army Staff.
