Fighting Corruption Is A Thankless Job, But It Has To Be Done – Magu

“I do not mind tge negative reports on me or written in the media, all I am focused on is to fight this corruption with all available right weapons because I am aware that this job is a thankless one and what should be uppermost in our minds is the future of our children and the country.” Magu said.

While decrying the erosion of the middle class by corruption, the EFCC boss thanked those present for assembling at a short notice even on a Saturday and went on to solicit for the cooperation and collaboration of the Civil Society Organisations in the south east zone in fighting corruption saying that no one individual nor organisation can fight corruption alone.

“Your input is critical especially when you consider that you a stake to educate, sensitize and mobilize the citizenry against corruption and also to let us know where we have gone wrong so that we can take corrections and make amends.”

Magu assured the coalition of the Commission’s support for it to be fully functional while hinting of EFCC intention to organise some programmes such as town hall meeting, concerts etc aimed at drawing attention and mustering support for the war against graft in the zone.

Speaking earlier while welcoming the Chairman and members of the civil society, the South East Zonal Head, Adamu Hamisu Danmusa , Ph.D told participants at the session that they have a duty to report any corrupt practice witnessed especially using the instrumentality of the social media.

In his own remark, the Director of Public Affairs at the EFCC, Osita Nwajah said the interactive session was long overdue and that the visit of the Executive Chairman underscores his regards and belief in role CSOs play in the success of the Commission.

“We at the EFCC cannot do without your support and we all are aware that the South East has been a base for the Commission’s landmark achievements, so this is a meeting of minds to have an open dialogue that will take the work a notch higher.” He stated.

Magu was also accompanied during the visit by Samin Amadin, Head of Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit of the Public Affairs Department.
