Fitness, Pre-Requisite To Summount The Security Challenges — Army Chief Of Training

The Chief of Training (Army), Maj Gen SG Mohammed, described fitness is a prerequisite to surmounting security challenges. The Chief of Training (COT A) stated this at the inauguration of the 23 Brigade war gaming simulation exercise tagged Ex ZAKI RURI at the Land Forces Simulation Centre Nigeria, (LFSCN) Giri, Abuja, on 14 May 24.

Major General Mohammed disclosed that the exercise would in addition facilitate integration and foster liaison between ministries, departments and agencies in a joint operations environment, with focus on deriving lessons from the experience. He underscored the importance of critically evaluating lessons and applying them as necessary to ensure a foolproof operational plan.

Maj Gen SG Mohammed expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff ( COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja NAM, for his unwavering support towards training, particularly in providing essential resources to LFSCN to fulfill its mandate effectively. He urged the observers to maintain objectivity and ensure that their comments and observations contribute to enhancing the operational readiness of 23 Brigade during the After Action Review.

In his welcome address, the Director General, LFSCN, Maj Gen UA Yusuf, reminded the participants that training remains the cornerstone of the NA and aligns with the COAS’s command philosophy, which is to “Transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly effective force to fulfill our Constitutional Responsibilities in a Joint Environment”. He stressed the imperative of continuing to provide top-notch training to all NA personnel, emphasizing that this commitment is essential to overcoming the security challenges facing the nation.

Maj Gen UA Yusuf disclosed that the COAS has approved that all NA units deployed for operations, domestically or internationally, will undergo at least one week of wargaming at the centre to refine their operational plans. He concluded by urging participants to approach the exercise with seriousness, immersing themselves in real-life scenarios relevant to their units and formations, thus ensuring effective support for NA operations. He assured the COAS that the resources allocated would be optimally utilized, yielding valuable feedback on training effectiveness.
