Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command Visits 6 Division Nigerian Army, Solicits Synergy

The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Eastern Naval Command (ENC), Rear Admiral Kennedy Chukwuemeka Ezete, on 18 July 2025, solicited continuous synergy between ENC and 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), in combating security challenges in the Niger Delta Region (NDR) and its environs. He made the call during a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, NA, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, at the Division Headquarters, Port Harcourt Barracks.

Rear Admiral Ezete noted that it is customary to visit military formations within an Area of Responsibility (AOR) upon assumption of command. He described his visit to the GOC as brotherly, recalling their early days together as Cadets at the Nigerian Defence Academy. He thanked the GOC for the warm reception accorded him and his team, expressing optimism that the synergy between the two commands would help secure the waterways and significantly reduce criminal activities.

In his remarks, the GOC, Major General Emekah, thanked the FOC for the visit and congratulated him on his well-deserved appointment. He emphasized that synergy between the two commands is crucial, given their importance to the security of critical national infrastructure in the NDR. The GOC further noted his longstanding relationship with the Nigerian Navy, being the first NA officer to undertake the underwater divers course at Nigerian Navy Ship Quorra in Lagos. He described ENC as a second home and reassured the FOC of continued cooperation between ENC and 6 Division, especially in the fight against oil theft and other criminalities in the region.

Highlights of the visit included the presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph, underscoring the significance of the engagement. The visit reinforced the commitment to enhanced operational synergy among military formations and sister services in the NDR.
