
Flag Officer Commanding Special Operations Command Maiden Visit To HQ Operation Hadin Kai and Naval Base Lake Chad, Borno State
On Wednesday, 12 November 2025, the Flag Officer Commanding Special Operations Command (FOC SOC), Rear Admiral OO Soyemi, accompanied by the Chief of Operations Officer, Commodore MA Mohammed, and the Commander Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service (NNSBS), Captain A Zidon, commenced his maiden operational visit to Headquarters Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) in Borno State. The FOC and his entourage were received by the Theatre Commander OPHK, Major General AE Abubakar, alongside his Principal Staff Officers. The FOC was subsequently briefed on ongoing operational activities, with particular emphasis on the Maritime Component.
On completion of the brief, the Theatre Commander formally welcomed the FOC to the Theatre and appreciated the Nigerian Navy for its continued manpower and materiel support to OPHK. He further requested additional assistance from Naval Headquarters to enhance ongoing operations. In his response, Rear Admiral Soyemi expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed the SOC’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and synergy in support of OPHK’s operational objectives. He also assured the Theatre Commander that all requests would be duly communicated to Naval Headquarters.
On Thursday, 13 November 2025, the FOC and his team, accompanied by the Maritime Component Commander OPHK, Commodore ME Ejumabone, proceeded to Naval Base Lake Chad (NBLC), Baga. The team received a comprehensive brief and tour from the Commander, Commodore PG Yilme, after which the FOC addressed personnel, commending their dedication and urging them to sustain their robust operational posture in confronting terrorists and criminal elements within the Area of Operations. Highlights of the visit included a stop at the Nigerian Army UAV Command and an inspection of Nigerian Navy–donated land on the outskirts of Maiduguri. The operational visit was successful and conducted without incident.
