Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command Pays Courtesy Visit To Strategic Stakeholders In Lagos State

On Thursday, 8 January 2026, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command (WNC), Rear Admiral AA Mustapha, continued his series of courtesy visits to key strategic stakeholders in Lagos State. The visits covered the Naval Dockyard Limited (NDL), the Palace of the Oniru of Iruland, and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

At the NDL, the FOC stated that the purpose of the visit was to further strengthen synergy and collaboration in the areas of ship maintenance and shipbuilding. In his response, the Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard Limited, Rear Admiral IE Shehu, congratulated Rear Admiral Mustapha on his appointment as the 46th Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command and assured him of the Dockyard’s continued support towards achieving the Command’s operational objectives.

The FOC also paid a courtesy visit to the Oniru of Iruland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, CON, Abisogun II. The monarch congratulated the FOC on his appointment and emphasised the importance of sustained synergy and collaboration between the Nigerian Navy and host communities. He further commended the Command for the effective security provided during the yuletide season and urged the FOC to sustain the tempo.

At the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), the FOC was received by the Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Dayo Mobereola. Dr Mobereola commended the Nigerian Navy for its pivotal role in maintaining maritime security, combating illegal activities, and providing critical operational support to the Agency.

Rear Admiral Mustapha stated that the visits were aimed at fostering cooperation and enhancing collaboration among relevant stakeholders to safeguard lives, assets, and property within Nigeria’s maritime domain, particularly in the Gulf of Guinea. He added that several critical and strategic maritime security issues were discussed during the interactive sessions.
