FOC West Pays Courtesy Visit To The Governor Of Ondo State

On Friday, 28 November 2025, the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abubakar Abdullahi Mustapha, GSS, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, at the Governor’s Office in Akure. Governor Aiyedatiwa commended the bravery of security forces in responding to recent attacks in Kebbi, Niger, and Kwara states, noting that prompt interventions saved lives. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the Armed Forces and sustaining Ondo State’s reputation as one of the safest in the country.

Rear Admiral Mustapha appreciated the governor’s continuous support, highlighting how it has strengthened the Navy’s efforts in securing the state’s maritime corridor. He emphasized the strategic value of Ondo State’s coastline, hydrocarbon potential, and the planned deep-sea port, noting that intelligence-driven and technology-enabled operations remain central to tackling maritime threats and safeguarding economic assets.

The FOC West outlined ongoing initiatives, including hydrographic surveys, joint operations with sister services, enhanced surveillance, and plans to map abandoned oil wells to prevent illegal activities. He reiterated his commitment to maintaining a secure maritime environment. Rear Admiral Mustapha was accompanied by senior officers, including Cdre A Mohammed, Brigadier General Justin Ifeanyi, Captain Aliyu Usman, Capt AO Alemengwa, and Cdr G Akeredolu.
