Force Commander Reaffirms Commitment To Troops Welfare, Combat Readiness and Discipline, Undertakes Operational Visit Kula, FOB Awume and Agagbe
The Force Commander Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), Major General Moses Gara, on 16 July 2025, embarked on a routine operational visit to Kula, Forward Operating Base (FOB) Awume and Agagbe in Sector 1 Area of Responsibility (AOR) Benue State.
The visit, which is part of his deliberate field assessment initiative drive to sustain operational effectiveness and enhance troops welfare, afforded the Force Commander the opportunity to interface directly with troops in the fields and appraise key aspects of administration, logistics, and combat preparedness. Addressing officers and soldiers at various locations, Major General Gara emphasized the primacy of troops welfare in mission success, especially in critical areas such as feeding, rest and recuperation, mental resilience, and preventive maintenance of arms and equipment.
At all three locations, the Force Commander inspected kitchen facilities, interacted with mess staff and troops during meal sessions, and reiterated the need for hygienic and nutritious feeding standards. He underscored that feeding quality directly affects stamina, alertness, and overall morale, hence it must never be compromised.
The Force Commander charged troops to take initiative in cleaning and maintaining their personal weapons, describing them as “a soldier’s closest ally in battle.”
On the issue of passes and leave, General Gara acknowledged the psychological importance of rest periods. He directed commanders to implement structured pass rotations without disrupting operational tempo, thereby ensuring continuous troops presence and high morale.
Major General Gara’s visit concluded with a resounding call for enhanced vigilance, intensified farm patrols to enhance food security, and unwavering dedication to duty across all sectors under Operation WHIRL STROKE.
