#FreeAudu: Nigeria Police Releases Audu Maikori 24 Hours After Arrest
Moments ago, his personal assistant took to Twitter to announce that the Choc City boss has finally been released by the officers of the Nigeria Police Force who whisked him away yesterday.
“Thanks everyone for #FreeAudu He’s been released,” Edward Israel-Ayide tweeted today. “Thanks everyone for your advocacy to #FreeAudu He’s out now. God bless you guys. God bless you.”
Hours ago, former minsiter Oby Ezekwesili revealed her conversation with the Kaduna State Governor, saying that the governor had intended to charge Maikori to court on Monday but following her pleas, agreed to set him free today.
“I pressed on the NECESSITY for @GovKaduna to act to FREE @Audu and allow all sides to LEARN the RIGHT LESSON from this painful episode,” she tweeted, adding, “At the end of our discussion, @GovKaduna agreed to ACT and FREE @Audu quickly and end this unfortunate development. WILL WATCH OUT FOR IT. ”
She continued, “Upon release today, I very much hope that @GovKaduna and @Audu can find points of COLLABORATION on #SouthernKaduna after this sad episode.”
Audu Maikori was arrested in relation to false information about the southern Kaduna killings he erroneously reported and apologised for. Though the Kaduna State Government is yet to reveal the conditions for his release, we hope this has been amicably resolved.
