General Emekah Reassures Support, Collaboration With Naval Shipyard

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting and collaborating with the Nigerian Naval Shipyard Limited (NNSL) to enhance operational effectiveness. He gave the assurance while hosting the newly appointed Admiral Superintendent of NNSL (ASNSL), Rear Admiral Ikenna Ubani, who paid him a familiarization visit at Headquarters, 6 Division, Port Harcourt Barracks.

The GOC congratulated Rear Admiral Ubani on his well-deserved appointment and assured him that 6 Division, NA, would continue to provide the necessary support to ensure operational success. He emphasized that 6 Division and NNSL share a common goal of ensuring security and stability within the Niger Delta Region (NDR), stressing that discipline remains key to achieving desired results.

Earlier, ASNSL Rear Admiral Ubani stated that his visit was intended to formally notify the GOC of his assumption of command, pay homage, and solicit continued support and operational synergy, particularly in the maintenance of operational gunboats and naval platforms.

Rear Admiral Ubani further explained that NNSL, which is a subsidiary of the Nigerian Navy Holdings, responsible for the building, maintenance and repairs of naval vessels, boats, and other maritime platforms. He added that, given 6 Division’s maritime operational area, the Shipyard remains available to support the maintenance needs of gunboats and other operational assets deployed in the NDR.
