GOC 2 Division, Major General Obinna Onubogu Visits Gov. Abdulrazak, Discuses Security Of South West, Environs

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Obinna Onubogu, has persisted in sustaining discussions that will steer up positive actions towards maintaining calm as well as improve security within 2 Division Area of Responsibility (AOR). In this regard, he paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency, Malam Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, at his office in Kwara State, on 19 June 2024.

Speaking to Governor Abdulrahman, the GOC said that the NA, under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, NAM, remains resolute to protect and defend Nigeria’s territory, while maintaining absolute security of lives and property of its citizens. Accordingly, he promised the Governor that 2 Division will align with the COAS’ intent to provide adequate security for the good people of Kwara State and the entire South West Region, in collaboration with other security agencies.

In his remarks, Governor Abdulrahman, expressed appreciation to the COAS for his exemplary leadership of the NA, which he explained as significant in ensuring adequate security of the nation. He pledged his administration’s full support of security agencies in the fight against insecurity. The Governor also commended General Onubogu for his resilience and dogged approach towards tackling security matters in the region.

He further appreciated the GOC for the professional manner in which troops of 22 Brigade, lead by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Olufemi Williams, collaborated with other security agencies to resolve the kidnapping incident involving 31 students of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara Kogi State, who were eventually rescued in Kwara State in May this year.

He urged for continued synergy between the NA and other security agencies to curb activities of criminals and bandits in Kwara State, which he said, will guarantee safety of lives and property of all law abiding citizens of the region.
