GOC 2 Division Nigerian Army Decorates 29 Newly Promoted Master Warrant Officers
Following Nigerian Army (NA) recent promotion of its deserving personnel within the rank and files, as promulgated by NA Department of Personnel Management (DPM), the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division NA, Major General Obinna Onubogu, has decorated 29 Master Warrant Officers (MWOs), who are amongst the beneficiaries, and serving within 2 Division Area of Responsibility (AOR). The decoration ceremony took place at Headquarters (HQ), 2 Division Auditorium, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment Ibadan, on 9 December 2024.
General Onubogu, while making remarks at the event, commended the newly promoted MWOs for their exceptional dedication to service of the NA and the entire country; urging them to continue to demonstrate and sustain highest standards of professionalism and commitment to the NA and nation building.
He further urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the various retirement schemes established by the NA as they draw closer to their exit points, while encouraging them to build legacies worthy of emulation which would serve as guiding principles to those coming behind them.
While congratulating the newly promoted MWOs, the Commander, 2 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Haruna Dasuki, told them that their new status would expectedly attract additional responsibilities, which when adequately sustained, will justify the confidence the NA reposes on them. He charged the beneficiaries to live up to the expectations of their new ranks, urging them to keep inspiring their colleagues, particularly the younger soldiers.
MWO Saidu Ladan, who delivered vote of thanks on behalf of his other colleagues, thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, NAM, for finding them worthy of being promoted. He further appreciated the GOC, for providing enabling and conducive working environment for all personnel of the Division to develop requisite professional skills to deliver on the Division’s mandate.
The investiture ceremony which marked a significant milestone in the careers of the promoted soldiers was well attended by Principal Staff Officers of the Division, Units and Formations Commanders, Officers and Soldiers as well as families and well wishers of the beneficiaries. The decoration was beautifully enhanced by exchange of pleasantries amongst the beneficiaries and their families with group photographs to bring the event to a close.
