
GOC 3 Division Charges Newly Promoted Colonel On Leadership By Example
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General EF Oyinlola, has charged the Division’s newly promoted senior officer to distinguish himself through exemplary conduct and effective leadership at all times. The charge was delivered during the decoration ceremony held at the GOC’s Office, Headquarters 3 Division, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos, on 4 November 2025.
Lieutenant Colonel GC Ohaeri, the Division’s Acting Deputy Director of Legal Services (DDLS), was decorated with the rank of Colonel following his promotion, which was approved by the Army Council.
In his remarks, the GOC congratulated Colonel Ohaeri and urged him to view the elevation as a call to greater responsibility and service to the Nigerian Army. He emphasized the importance of leading by example, noting that subordinates often learn more from actions than words. “You are now a role model to your subordinates; therefore, you must exemplify good conduct and professionalism in all your endeavors,” he stated.
The GOC also extended appreciation to the spouse of the celebrant, emphasizing that the resilience and support of families are vital to the success of personnel. “There is no way we can discharge our responsibilities effectively without stability at home,” he said.
In his vote of thanks, Colonel Ohaeri expressed his gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for finding him worthy of the promotion and promised to live up to the expectations of his new rank. He also thanked the GOC for his exemplary leadership and strategic guidance, as well as his spouse for holding the home front.
The brief but colorful ceremony featured words of advice from senior officers within the division and commanders of affiliated formations. It concluded with the celebrant’s vote of thanks and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
