GOC 3 Division Emphasizes Importance Of Training For Troops Tactical Skills, Launches Exercise Shining Star V
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army/ Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH),Major General AE Abubakar, has stressed the pivotal role of continuous training in enhancing troops’ tactical skills. The GOC/Commander OPSH, while inaugurating students of EXERCISE SHINING STAR V held at Headquarters 3 Division Auditorium, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Jos, also underscored the significance of training for troops’ professional development and battle readiness.
Emphasizing the need to harmonize training with the aim of achieving a battle-focused approach, Major General Abubakar highlighted that the ongoing training will equip young soldiers with the ability to use initiative, improve tactical skills, and effectively employ weapons in both day and night settings. This, he explained, will enable them to effectively counter emerging challenges. He further emphasized that continuous training is an essential element of a professional military career.
Represented by the Commander 3 Division Garrison, Brigadier General MK Sanda, the Commander, General Abubakar emphasized that the training aligns with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, “To Transform the Nigerian Army into a Well Trained, Equipped and Highly Motivated Force Towards Achieving Our Constitutional Responsibilities Within a Joint Environment”.
Acknowledging the visionary leadership and tireless efforts of Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja in training troops, the GOC stated that training is the best form of welfare a commander can provide to his troops. He urged the participants to approach the training with seriousness, dedication and commitment to derive maximum benefit from the course.
In his welcome address, the Division Training Officer (DTO), Brigadier General A Aminu, revealed that participants for EX SHINING STAR V 2024 were drawn from various units and formations within the 3 Division Area of Responsibility.
General Aminu expressed gratitude to the GOC/Commander OPSH for his visionary leadership, strategic guidance, and logistics support for the Division Training School. He assured optimal training for the young soldiers to enhance their tactical abilities. He further charged the students to maintain focus and discipline throughout the course.
The inauguration was attended by Commanders, Principal Staff Officers and senior Officers of the Division. The event concluded with a group photograph.
