GOC 6 Division Commissions Ultra Modern Car Park, Named After MWO Ndagi
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam has commissioned a newly built ultra modern car park at 6 Division Garrison, Port Harcourt Barracks. The project was built and commissioned in honour of retired Regimental Sergeant Major(RSM), Master Warrant Officer(MWO), Nakodi Ndagi(rtd), today 21 June 2024.
While commissioning the project, the GOC remarked that legacy projects, such as this, are designed to help personnel and would ultimately stand the test of time. He congratulated the Commander, 6 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Eddet Effiong, for the initiative and called on commanders to key into such aspects of development and welfare of troops. These, he said, are key components of the Chief of Army Staff(COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja’s Command Philosophy. He further remarked that honouring the retired RSM with the project will serve as a catalyst that will spur others to improve.
He used the medium to call on personnel to emulate the retired RSM’s good work and sense of commitment to duty. “It shows clearly that MWO Ndagi has done very well and contributed significantly to the NA,” he retorted. He congratulated the retired RSM for his commitment to the NA and fatherland and wished him well as he enjoys his retirement.
In his welcome remarks, the Commander, 6 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Eddet Effiong thanked the GOC for the honour accorded Garrison to have commissioned the car park into use. He further mentioned that the initiative was born out of his zeal to have a more decent office complex, where cars of both personnel and visitors are neaty parked in slots, rather than having vehicles littered recklessly which could lead to accidents.
He said that he has chosen to immortalise the car park in the name of 6 Division Garrison’s immediate past RSM, MWO Nakodi Ndagi, to appreciate him for all his commitment and dedication to service. He added that it was essentially a way of making his diligence known to everyone that comes to the unit. He recalled that projects are being named after senior officers, who did well and that it won’t be out of place to acknowledge soldiers who distinguished themselves in service.
Brigadier General Effiong also appreciated the GOC for his fatherly guidance and supervision, which made it possible for him to accomplish the dream and having the legacy project named after MWO Ndagi.
MWO Nakodi Ndagi was enlisted into the NA on the 3 July 1989 as a member of Regular Recruit Intake and has served in several formations and units. He was RSM at 195 Battalion, Agenebode, Headquarters, Sector 3 Mungono and Headquarters, 6 Division Garrison, where he retired after putting in 35 years of unblemished and meritorious service to the NA and fatherland.
