GOC 6 Division Reassures FOC Naval Training Command Of Support, Collaboration

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, has reassured the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC), Rear Admiral Ebiobowei Abraham Zipele, of the Division’s support and collaboration. He gave the assurance today, 19 November 2025, when the newly appointed FOC NAVTRAC paid him a familiarisation visit at Headquarters 6 Division, NA, Port Harcourt.

The GOC reaffirmed the Division’s commitment under his leadership to support and collaborate with NAVTRAC in fostering peace, not only in Rivers State, but in the entire Niger Delta Region. He added that the Nigerian Navy (NN) remains a second home to him, hence his regular participation in their activities, and called on the new FOC to sustain the collaboration.

Earlier, the FOC NAVTRAC, Rear Admiral Zipele, stated that he visited Headquarters 6 Division in conformity with established military tradition, which prescribes that on assumption of command, a commander visits flanking formations and units to formally inform them of his arrival. This informed his visit to 6 Division to familiarize himself and solicit more areas of collaboration, particularly in training between the NA and the NN.

The FOC NAVTRAC further stated that the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) have the same purpose of working towards a common goal under a unified command to achieve the objectives vested in them. He called for sustained collaboration with 6 Division, stressing that the training of personnel of the AFN has become necessary, especially in the face of the current threat matrix. He noted that this brings to the fore the popular maxim that “We train more in peacetime so as to bleed less in wartime.” He reassured the GOC of a more functional collaboration between 6 Division and NAVTRAC.
