GOC 6 Division Underscores Importance Of Training In Military Profession, Hosts Commandant NNBTS Onne

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah has underscored the importance of training in the profession of arms. He made the emphasis, today 11 March 2025, when he hosted the newly posted Commandant, Nigerian Navy Basic School Training (NNBTS), Onne, Rivers State, Rear Admiral Victor Dabess Choji at the Division’s Headquarter in Port Harcourt Barracks.

Speaking further, Major General Emekah reemphasized the impact of quality training to the newly recruited personnel. This, he said is key to the success or otherwise of their military career, most especially now that most operations are conducted in a joint environment. He pointed out that serving in military training institutions is an opportunity, that affords one the privilege of knowing officers and soldiers across the Services and formations. He assured that 6 Division will continue to support the NNBTS to succeed.

Earlier, the Commandant, NNBTS, Rear Admiral Choji said his institution is considered as one of the most important military training institutions, that could be likened to Depot Nigerian Army. He further maintained that without Soldiers/Ratings/Airmen, there won’t be officers, hence the need to pay closer attention to the structure of their training. He added that contemporary military operations are conducted transparently, and subjected the public scrutiny. Hence, the need to build the requisite leadership capacity in the new entrants, stressing the impact of their actions and inactions, particularly at the tactical level, could have huge implication on the strategic level.

The Commandant solicited for support of the Division, particularly in terms of training support when the need arises. This, he reassured will enable the NNBTS to achieve its objective.
