GOC 8 Division Commander Sector 2 JTF Operation Fansan Yamma Conducts Maiden Operational Visit To 1 Brigade, Gusau
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Maj Gen BP Koughna, from 20 – 21 January 2026, conducted his maiden operational visit to Headquarters 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Gusau, Zamfara State.
The visit commenced with an operational assessment tour to Bingi in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The GOC who was lead by the Commander 1 Brigade Brig Gen M Jimoh to an ambushed location to obtain first-hand situational awareness, assess troop disposition, and evaluate ongoing counter-threat measures.
He also interacted with troops at the location to boost morale and reinforce operational readiness.
Addressing troops at the garrison parade ground, the GOC directed them to maintain heightened vigilance, operational discipline and rapid response posture in order to effectively secure lives and property within their Areas of Responsibility. He emphasized the importance of intelligence-driven operations and timely reaction to emerging threats.
