GOC Hosts Committee On Review Of Armed Forces Of Nigeria Joint Defence Doctrine
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army (NA) and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Saraso receives Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Committee on Review of Armed Forces of Nigeria Joint Defence Doctrine, at the Headquarters of the Division in Kaduna.
In his remarks, the team leader, Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Amin Isah stated that the committee was tasked by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa to visit Field Commanders to review the 2017 Joint Defence Document which is long overdue for review. The team leader added that the committee also intends to understand potential shortcomings in training, equipment, discipline, leadership, recruitment, or intelligence gathering to reflect modern warfare realities and incorporate new technologies in effective joint operations.
In his response, the GOC emphasized the importance of a bottom-up approach to warfare, where tactical-level execution is crucial for strategic successes. He added that the initial input by the Division was primarily based on a draft doctrine, potentially limiting the scope of the discussion the team was seeking for input to fine tune.
Relatedly, the GOC received executive members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) also at the Division’s Headquarters in Kaduna.
The team leader and Chairman of the NIPR Kaduna State Chapter; Mr Haroun Malami said the Institute is a member of Global Alliance for Communication which is a whole or confederation of institutes around the globe with headquarters in Switzerland with over 360 members across the world in about 126 countries. He added that the relationship can be extended by the visit to expand more collaboration, support, and deepen relationships that will lead to more mutual and beneficial relationships for the Institute.
The GOC who was represented by the Chief of Staff of the Division, Brigadier General David Nwakonobi appreciated the hand of cooperation extended, while commending their initiative of hosting by the Kaduna State Chapter of the upcoming 3rd Nigerian Public Relations Week (NPRW) and 63rd Annual General Meeting and Conference, scheduled to hold from Monday April, 20th – Friday 24th April 2026 in Kaduna.
