
GOC Tours 28 Task Force Brigade Area Of Responsibility, Seeks More Collaboration With Askira Emirate Council
As part of his operational visits to Formations and Units under command, the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu has extolled the gallantry of officers and troops of 28 Task Force (TF) Brigade for their resilience, courage and determination in dominating their general area of operations against the marauding elements of the Boko Haram Insurgents.
The GOC made this known on Wednesday, 24 June, 2025 while on a 2 days operational visit to the Brigade’s Headquarters (BHQs) location in Chibok and his Battalions (Bn) under command. These Bns include 115 TF Bn Askira, 271 TF Tank Bn Michika and 144 Bn Madagali.
On arrival at the BHQs in Chibok, the GOC was received and given an operational brief by the Bde Commander, Brigadier General OA Adejoro. Addressing the troops, the GOC disclosed that the aim of the visit was to enable him to assess the combat readiness of the Bde and its elements.
He thereafter enjoined Commanders at various levels to intensify their operational efforts, be proactive and deal decisively with the adversaries by taking the battle to them in their enclaves.
Furthermore, the GOC urged the commanders to
ensure that they maintain constant interaction with stakeholders in order to uphold a sustainable civil-military cooperation as means of Non-kinetic Operation.
Similarly, the GOC and his entourage paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Askira, His Royal Highness (HRH) Alhaji (Dr) Mai Abdullahi Ibn Muhammadu Askirama in his palace. The GOC expressed his appreciation for the Emir’s immense support and collaboration with the troops in his domain.
The GOC said the Division was much aware of the persistent issues confronting the people of Askira especially as they have commenced the farming season. He said the Nigerian Army (NA) will continue to do its best to ensure that farmers have access to cultivate their farmlands with adequate security at all times. According to him by so doing, we are optimistic that this will enhance productivity thereby guaranteeing food security nation wide.
In his remarks, the Emir, HRH, Alhaji (Dr) Abdullahi Ibn Muhammadu Askirma described the NA as a fantastic force that has always given the people a reason to live again. While explaining his experience as a victim of insurgency, he said prior to this period his domain was abandoned due to the activities of the terrorists but today is a new dawn. In his words “today, we can sleep in our respective domain with our eyes closed and most indigents have settled back to their ancestral homes even though there are some districts that are still not occupied”
The royal father concluded by thanking the military saying, “no words can quantify how grateful we are to the military for their untiring efforts, we sincerely commiserate with those that have paid the supreme sacrifices and we pray for the almighty Allah to forgive them their shortcomings.
The GOC commissioned an operation room renovated by the Bde Commander in Chibok, Brigadier General OA Adejoro. The visit was hitch free.
