The Executive Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Dr Agbu Kefas, has adjudged the performance of Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa and other heads of security agencies in the state as excellent, noting that sustained teamwork and actionable intelligence sharing remain critical to defeating insecurity across the country.
The Governor made this assertion on 30 January 2026, during a state dinner at the Government House Banquet Hall organised in honour of retired and transferred heads of security agencies who have served in Taraba State. He reiterated that his administration would not lower its guard in the fight against insecurity, stressing that security remains a top priority of his government.
Governor Kefas, a retired senior military officer, stated that based on his professional assessment, the outgoing security chiefs performed creditably well despite the complex operational environment of Taraba State, which is home to over 80 ethnic groups. He expressed confidence in their capabilities and assured them that they would excel wherever they may be called upon to serve.
He further assured that his administration would continue to support security agencies through sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing, and inter-agency networking to promote professionalism and operational efficiency.
Speaking at the event, the Secretary to the Taraba State Government, Barrister Gebon Timothy Katap, described Taraba State as the safest state in Northern Nigeria, attributing the achievement to the dedication and commitment of the honoured security chiefs. He noted that they had written their names in gold by preserving the state’s long-standing reputation as a safe haven.
Barrister Katap recalled that since Governor Kefas assumed office, this was the second state banquet organised to honour Nigerians who served the state meritoriously. He commended the outgoing security heads for coming, seeing, and conquering in their collective responsibility of safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Those honoured at the event include Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General KC Uwa, AIG Emmanuel Bretet, State Director, DSS, Mr Edet Victor, Squadron Leader John Osifo, CP Sebastian DO Gshal, DCP Nwadogbu Cletus, Mr Jerry Moral, Mr Sale Mijinyawa.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, former Commissioner of Police in Taraba State, AIG Emmanuel Bretet (rtd), appreciated the Taraba State Government for the recognition and support extended to the security agencies. He revealed that actionable intelligence sharing, teamwork, and the avoidance of inter-agency rivalry were instrumental to the successes recorded in the state. He urged that the same level of cooperation and support be extended to their successors to sustain the gains achieved.
The event underscored the Taraba State Government’s commitment to security and its appreciation of men and women who have contributed to peace and stability within the state.
