Governor Zulum Commends Nigerian Air Force at Christmas Luncheon in Maiduguri

Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has lauded the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its relentless efforts in safeguarding the state and combating insurgency. He made this commendation during a Christmas luncheon organized for air personnel at the Headquarters of the Air Component, Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, Maiduguri.

Represented by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman A. Tar, Gov Zulum praised the Air Force’s pivotal role in restoring stability in the region, emphasizing their humanitarian interventions, particularly during the catastrophic flooding in Maiduguri. He highlighted their commitment to protecting civilians and supporting recovery efforts in crisis-stricken communities.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, in his remarks, reiterated the Air Force’s resolve to obliterate terrorism across Nigeria. He detailed ongoing initiatives to enhance operational capacity through the provision of advanced equipment and strategic planning aimed at addressing the nation’s security challenges comprehensively.

Air Marshal Abubakar underscored the robust collaboration between the Air Force and civilian communities, citing their exemplary response during the recent Maiduguri floods as a testament to their dedication beyond military duties. He also expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his steadfast support of the Armed Forces, acknowledging the indispensable roles of the Minister of Defense and other security personnel who remained on duty during the festive season.

In his welcome address, Air Vice Marshal E.O.E. Ebowe, the Air Officer Commanding Air Tactical Command, highlighted the significant achievements recorded against insurgent groups. He revealed that sustained military operations have severely degraded Boko Haram and ISWAP, resulting in the elimination of high-value targets, the seizure of weapons, and the destruction of enemy bases. These efforts have compelled numerous fighters and their families to surrender.

The event underscored the Air Force’s unwavering dedication to national security, even amidst festivities, with Governor Zulum acknowledging the indispensable partnership between the state government and the military. Prof. Zulum commended the NAF for its tireless efforts, reiterating the state’s commitment to fostering a secure and peaceful environment for all residents.
