
Governor Zulum Commissions Projects At Sector 3 Monguno, Lauds General Tilawan
The Governor of Borno State, His Excellency, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has commissioned multiple projects executed under the supervision of the Commander Sector 3 OPERATION HADINKAI (OPHK) and Multinational Joint Task Force(MNJTF) Major General Suleiman Tilawan at Kinnasara Cantonment Monguno, Borno State.
The projects commissioned includes the newly constructed and equipped Lieutenant General OO Oluyede Cafeteria and Lounge, named after the former Chief of Army Staff, and the newly remodelled, renovated and refurbished Warrant Officers and Sergeant Mess. These State- of- the- art facilities marks a significant milestone in efforts to improve the welfare and morale of troops to enhance their operational performance as they fulfill their constitutional duty to defend the country.
Speaking at the investiture ceremony held in honor of Major General Tilawan, Governor Zulum, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion congratulated him on his well deserved promotion describing it as a recognition of professionalism, sacrifice and consistent service.
“Maj Gen Tilawan is a very hardworking and dedicated senior officer whose personality and integrity was never in doubt ” Zulum averred. He acknowledged his efforts and the tremendous growths witnessed in the sector since he assumed command.
The Governor reiterated that the strengthening of the security architecture in the Sectors’ Areas of Responsibility and particularly with the actualization of the re-establishments of FOBs Duji, Mairari and Kekeno was highly commendable and appreciated.
While emphasizing that the projects commissioned underscores the Sector Commanders and by extension the Nigerian Army’s dedication to prioritizing the welfare of troops; he added that the projects will further enhance the morale of troops, foster camaraderie and reinforce esprit de corps, untimately translating into operational efficiency.
Governor Zulum extended his commendation to the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen W Shaibu NAM, the Theatre Commander and as well as Officers and men of the Sector urging them to sustain the momentum.
In his vote of thanks, Major General Tilawan expressed his sincere gratitude to all for the love and encomiums showered on him. He also appreciated the governor and other government functionaries for gracing the occasion. The Commander further prayed for peace and tranquility in Borno state.
Governor Zulum had earlier performed a symbolic foundation laying ceremony at the Military Cenotaph in Monguno demonstrating the NA efforts towards honouring and remembering our gallant Officers and men who paid the Supreme price in their service to our fatherland
The event was attended by key stakeholders amongst which are the member representing Marte, Monguno and Nganzai Federal Constituency, Hon. Bukar Talba, the Speaker of Borno State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdulkareem Lawan, State assembly members, commissioners, and local government chairmen from northern borno and other government officials.
