Governor Zulum Visits Chief Of Naval Staff, Commends AFN, Nigerian Navy For Measures Taken To Combat Insecurity In North East Zone

On Thursday 10 April 2025, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umaru Zulum CON mni paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla at Naval Headquarters, Abuja.

The Governor was accompanied by:

•⁠ ⁠Distinguished Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume- Borno South.

•⁠ ⁠⁠Distinguished Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno- Borno North.

•⁠ ⁠⁠Distinguished Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan (SAN)- Borno Central.

•⁠ ⁠⁠Honourable Engineer Bukar Talba (FNSE)- Member House of Representatives (Monguno/Marte/Nganzai).

•⁠ ⁠⁠Professor Usman Tar- Honorable Commisioner of Information and Internal Security.

In his remarks, the Governor commended the Nigerian Armed Forces in general and the Nigerian Navy in particular for the kinetic and non-kinetic measures employed to combat terror and insurgency in the North East region. He specifically thanked the CNS for the excellent work being done by personnel of Naval Base Lake Chad in the Baga-Lake Chad axis of Bornu. His Excellency further stated that there was a lot more to do for unhindered movement through the water-ways from Baga-Tchad to continue smoothly. He concluded by stating that the visit underscores his unflinching commitment to the security of lives and property of all Bornu citizens and pledged to continue supporting the NN via Naval Base Lake Chad to fulfill his resolve.

In response, the CNS thanked His Excellency for the auspicious visit. He also thanked the distinguished members of the National Assembly who accompanied the Governor, for their presence. The CNS went on to assure the Governor that the NN was undeterred in its commitment to fulfill its constitutional mandate of protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity especially in the Lake Chad region. He explained that many operational and tactical measures were underway to increase the effectiveness of Naval Base Lake Chad and assured His Excellency that efforts were being redoubled to secure the general Baga- Lake Chad axis.
