Gunmen dressed in military uniform have kidnapped the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Kogi State, Wakili Damina.
This comes less than one month after gunmen killed the Miyetti Allah Chairman in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Mohammed Hussain.
Intelligence gathered that the gunmen, numbering about eight, on Friday April 30, invaded the Chairman’s residence at Chika village in a white bus and whisked him away.
The State Secretary of MACBAN, Adamu Abubakar, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Lokoja on Tuesday, said he was informed of the incident about an hour later by the younger brother of Mr. Damina who claimed he witnessed the incident.
The secretary said he immediately called the phone number of the missing chairman, but no one answered it and it was later switched off.
“Since then, his lines are not reachable and all efforts to know his whereabouts proved abortive,” he said.
The Secretary noted that MACBAN had raised a search party including abattoirs around Abuja but the Chairman has not been found.
The Kogi State Commissioner of police, Ede Ayuba, when contacted, said that the police are yet to locate the whereabouts of the chairman.
There has been a surge in kidnapping cases across the country. Last week, 97 persons were killed and 58 kidnapped in Nigeria.
