Headquarters 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Calabar, on Tuesday 10 September 2025, organized a road safety sensitization lecture for its troops as part of efforts to enhance the welfare and safety of personnel. The lecture, held at the Brigade Headquarters Auditorium, featured officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Cross River State Command, who were specially invited to deliver the session.
The sensitization focused on key aspects of road safety including speed management, avoidance of drunk driving, dangers of using mobile phones while driving, proper vehicle maintenance, and strict adherence to traffic rules and regulations. Troops were also educated on preventive measures against road accidents during both official and personal movements.
The Commander 13 Brigade, Brigadier General MO Ibrahim, who was ably represented by the Garrison Commander, Lieutenant Colonel A Jibo, commended the FRSC for partnering with the Brigade to deliver the lecture. He emphasized that discipline on the road is an extension of military discipline, noting that most accidents are preventable if the right driving culture is adopted. He urged all personnel to apply the knowledge gained to safeguard themselves, their families, and other road users.
The interactive session also featured a question and answer segment, where troops engaged FRSC officials on various road safety concerns.
