
Headquarters Eastern Naval Command Marks Nigerian Navy 69th Anniversary With Tree Planting Ceremony
In a poignant celebration of nature and national pride, the Headquarters Eastern Naval Command orchestrated a symbolic tree planting ceremony to commemorate the Nigerian Navy 69th anniversary on Thursday 29 May 2025. This momentous occasion brought together esteemed dignitaries from across the state, united in their quest to honor the beauty of nature and reaffirm their commitment to environmental stewardship.
As the gathering converged on the Headquarters grounds, the significance of trees was palpable. These silent sentinels not only beautify our surroundings but also play a vital role in mitigating the effects of climate change. By planting trees, we collectively acknowledged the profound impact of these eco-warriors, which include reducing carbon emissions, providing shade, improving air quality, supporting biodiversity, preventing soil erosion, and boosting mental health and well-being.
The ceremony was graced by distinguished personalities, including The Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral SA Akinwande represented by the Command Staff Officer Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral DM Ndanusa, Commandant Naval War College, Rear Admiral AO Olodude, represented by Captain IA Adamu and Fleet Commander Eastern Fleet, Rear Admiral KO Oguntuga. Other notable attendees included the Commissioner of Environment Cross Rivers State, the Commander 13 Brigade Nigerian Army, the Commander Nigerian Navy Ship VICTORY and representatives from the Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police Force, and other Security agencies. As the participants planted trees, they embodied the spirit of collective responsibility in protecting our planet.
