House Committee On Army Visit Troops At The Front Line
In continuation of oversight function by the honourable members House of Representatives Committee on Army to the Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole, the members have paid a visit to the troops of Delta Company 251 Task Force Battalion deployed at Cashew Plantation in Maiduguri, Borno State on the 16th of May 2019.
On arrival at the location, they were briefed by the Commanding Officer of the Battalion Lieutenant Colonel JK Maigari on the operational achievements and constraints of the company. A fire power demonstration drill of 105 Millimetre Artillery Gun was conducted by troops to enable the members to have a feel of what it is like to experience continuous sporadic mix of gunfire in war situation.
While applauding the troops for their patriotic efforts, sacrifices and commitments in the fight against terrorism, the chairman of the Committee, Honourable Rimamnde Shawulu Kwewum revealed that the visit has given them the opportunity to see the state of troops and their equipments.
The visit further gave them an insight to the actual living situation of troops and their equipment disposition in the Frontline. Based on the visit, the chairman assured the troops of enlighten and better representation in the house inorder to better the plight of troops in the battle fields.
The members were conducted during the visit by the Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Benson Akinroluyo. Deputy Theatre Commander Major General OG Adeniyi, the General Officer Commanding 7 Division Brigadier General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu, Liaison Officer to the National Assembly, Brigadier General Kelvin Aligbe, Commander 7 Division Garrison Brigadier General Mike Alechenu and Navy Commander A Mohammed were also present during the visit.
