THE leadership of the Hunters Group of Nigeria, Osun State chapter, has given criminals using the state’s forests as cover seven days to vacate or face negative consequences.
The Chairman of the group, Ahmed Nureen, handed down the ultimatum while receiving more hunters into the fold at a meeting held in Ikirun, Osun State on Saturday.
Nureen, who noted that his group had already identified several of the unconventional routes that criminals usually took, promised to mobilise more hunters from every community to improve security network.
He stated that after the expiration of the ultimatum, his group, working with the police, Amotekun Corps and other security agencies would ensure criminals were flushed out of their hideout.
He urged farmers and residents of rural communities, especially those located at borders with other states to cooperate with government and security agents by providing intelligence that would prevent crime.
Nureen added that his group had already embarked on a plan to raise hunters that would work specifically within all border communities in the state with specific attention on unconventional routes to prevent influx.
“We are given the perpetrators of crime seven-day ultimatum to leave the forest in Osun State. We are not after any group or religion; we are after criminals hiding in the forest. After the expiration of the ultimatum, we will be working with the police and other security agencies to flush them out,” he stressed.
Speaking on behalf of the new group, Oluode of Iree, who is also the chairman, ‘Ode Agbaye Group’, Chief Ayodeji Ogunniyi, promised total commitment to issues around improved security in the state.
