If You Shared Shekau’s Video On Social Media, You Risk Jail Term, If Not Death Sentence – Nigerian Law

From Dr Nura Alkali’s Facebook wall:
“If you shared Shekau’s video on your timeline, you are risking a jail term, if not a death sentence. Here are relevant sections of the Terrorism (Prevention) Amendment Act 2013:

“A person or body corporate who knowingly, in or outside Nigeria, directly or indirectly, willingly (a) does, attempts, or threatens any act of terrorism. . . (h) incites, promises or induces any other person by any means whatsoever to commit any act of terrorism . . . commits an offence under this Act and is liable on conviction to maximum of death sentence” (Section 1, subsection 2, a – h).

“Any person who knowingly, in any manner, directly or indirectly, solicits or renders support (a) for the commission of an act of terrorism, or (b) to a terrorist group, commits an offence under this Act and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term of not less than twenty years” (Section 5, subsection 1, a & b).

“For the purposes of this section, “Support” includes incitement to commit a terrorist act through the internet . . . “

Well, Shekau instructed his followers to kill certain people in that video, which you shared on the internet to reach more of his followers. Incitement and support to terrorists. 20 years jail term if the police knew their job.”
