Inter-Agency Collaboration Is Key To Public Safety and National Security – Brigadier General Ayokunle Owolabi

The Commander 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ayokunle Olufemi Owolabi, has reiterated the importance of strong inter-agency collaboration in enhancing public safety and national security, describing synergy among security and civil institutions as critical to effective service delivery.

The Brigade Commander made this statement while receiving the General Manager, Lagos State Command and Control Centre, Mr Femi Kennedy Giwa, and the Comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Lagos State Command, Comptroller Christoper Onajinrin, on a courtesy visit to his office.

During the visit which held at the Conference Room of the Brigade in TA Lagbaja Cantonment Ikeja, Brigadier General Owolabi welcomed the visitors and commended the Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Immigration Service for their roles in promoting public safety, intelligence coordination, and effective emergency response within Lagos State. He emphasized that modern security challenges require a collective approach anchored on information sharing, mutual trust, and sustained cooperation among stakeholders.

Highlights of the visit included discussions on exploring areas of mutual collaboration, strengthening synergy, and enhancing service relationships between the Brigade, the Lagos State Command and Control Centre, and the Nigeria Immigration Service. The engagements focused on improving operational coordination, leveraging technology for situational awareness, and necessary intelligence sharing ensuring a safer environment for residents of Lagos State.

Mr Femi Kennedy Giwa, in his remarks, appreciated the Brigade Commander and reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Command and Control Centre to work closely with the Brigade and other security agencies to improve response efficiency and public safety outcomes. Similarly, Comptroller Onajinrin expressed the readiness of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Lagos State Command, to deepen cooperation, particularly in areas of intelligence sharing and border-related security concerns.

The courtesy visits concluded with a renewed commitment by all parties to sustain collaboration in the interest of security, safety, and service to the nation.
